We are working toward securing the future of sewerage services for the city’s residential and business properties currently connected to the ageing city’s Wastewater Management System (WMS). Due to an increase in population and the age of the current WMS facility, it is now not fit for purpose and will need to be decommissioned in the next 5 years.

We are currently working to gain a better understanding of the existing WMS, to determine what is needed to replace the Facility completely and transition properties over to a fully integrated sewer service with the new WMS Facility being built outside the city at the old mine site. We need to work with you to understand how this new system will be delivered without causing too much of an interruption to households and everyday business. All existing customers of the WMS will be kept informed throughout this process and we will provide assistance when the time comes to transition properties from the old WMS to our new sewer system.

It is likely when the new WMS is complete that the construction and transition will be undertaken in a staged approach over the next 5 years, with prioritisation based on a range of factors, including condition assessments of the existing assets.
