I'm so glad someone is asking the community about this. What do you all think?

I think there should be more focus on 'governance' in council. I'd like to see more Citizen Juries and opportunities for deliberative engagement to help the new Councillors make informed decisions.

But why do we need to have a forum on this site? Why can't we just comment on the Facebook page?

I think we could use both channels - Facebook AND this forum.

Hi Kelly - great question! I think it's better to have an official and safe place for people to comment on this important topic. Facebook can get a bit feral!

I think this is a good thing to be thinking about, particularly as we move to an increasingly uncertain future. In light of the pressing issues, I think the best form of action is to take a precautionary approach.

Great idea! But what if being too cautious smothers any innovative thought? We can't be too risk adverse or we will never progress.

I agree with both of your comments. There is a new(ish) concept in Community Engagement circles called 'patient urgency'. If you aren’t patient, you only get illusory change. Lasting change is not possible without community. You may be gone in 5 or 10 years, but the community will still be there. You need a sense of urgency to push the process forward and maintain momentum.
